Investigation on layout of multibeam waveguide
The design of a multi-beam waveguide is the focus and difficulty of the layout of the high-throughput satellite. In recent years, the number of high-throughput satellite launches at home and abroad has continued to increase. The number of beams of multi-beam antennas has increased exponentially and the types are diversified. The lead time is short. It is of great significance to investigate design methods of multi-beam waveguides to improve efficiency and shorten the layout cycle. This article proposes that a flangeless waveguide is more suitable for the layout of a multi-beam waveguide, which can reduce weight by 8% and the space utilization rate is greater than 60%. The article introduces the concept of multibeam waveguide layout, where the rationality of instrument layout and the fixability of waveguides are important factors affecting the design of waveguides. A reasonable layout of input preselectors, output test couplers, and multi-beam antennas will greatly reduce the workload. Both ends are connected using flange plates, with straight waveguides throughout the middle, resulting in a space utilization efficiency of up to 75% and a 30% reduction in local weight, highlighting the importance of rational layout. The fewer types of angles between the multi-beam antenna waveguide port and the satellite coordinate system are, the smaller the design workload will be. The installation and fixation of multi-beam waveguide gives the criteria of the design work. The reasonable selection of flanges and various brackets enables the waveguide to be designed as a matrix structure with multiple horizontal columns and vertical rows, which is tidy, saves space, and facilitates the operation of the assembly. The quantity of a certain type of T-shaped bracket is twice the sum of the quantities of I-shaped brackets and special brackets, and nearly 40 times the quantity of flange plates, proving that Tshaped brackets are the most used brackets in multi-beam waveguide designs. The satellite contains 220 multi-beam waveguides and is currently communicating normally in orbit, which proves the effectiveness of the research method and has great guiding value for a high-throughput satellite that includes much design work of multi-beam waveguide.
