An Investigation on the Augmentation of Spectral Efficiency in ACO-OFDM System Using Truncated-PAPR

In this manuscript, the spectral efficiency of an asymmetrically-clipped optical OFDM (ACO-OFDM) system is explored, which considers truncating the signal Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR) through pre-clipping. The system performance is assessed using the PAPR, which follows a Rayleigh distribution as a weighting factor. We consider scaling the PAPR signal through pre-clipping, measured by a scaling factor <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$(<1.0)$</tex>, and a weighting factor named cumulative distribution function (CDF). It offers a more accurate assessment of the system's performance. Taking CDF into consideration, we explore the variance in spectral efficiency throughout the whole pre-clipping range for different values of the subcarrier count, denoted by N.
