Frequency Modulation Strategy of Grid Integration for Wind Turbine with Grid-Forming Energy Storage System
As the share of turbine in the power system continues to increase, it leads to a decrease in the inertia of the system, which will pose a serious threat to the frequency stability of the system. To cope with these challenges, this article proposes a virtual synchronous generator (VSG) based frequency control strategy for grid-forming energy storage system (GF-ESS). By simulating the electromechanical transient characteristics of the synchronous generator, this strategy can effectively solve the frequency instability problem of the grid-integration doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) system with stator voltage-directed control owing to the insufficient system inertia support capability. By comparing and analyzing the grid-integration frequency waveforms of wind turbine (WT), the significant advantages of the GF-ESS in enhancing the grid-integration frequency stability of WT are verified.
