Investigation of Improved MPPT Algorithms in Renewable Based Low Voltage Direct Current Micro Grid for Energy Management

The Low-voltage DC (LVDC) micro grid has become a promising solution for integrating Distributed generations (DG) and energy storage systems (ESS). This paper introduces two new MPPT algorithms for improving stability and efficiency of a wind-solar powered LVDC micro grid, incorporating an actively managed hybrid energy storage system (HESS). The study covers the full design, development, and testing of the PMS with MPPT controllers. Conventional MPPT i.e, with Perturb & observe based MPPT, drift free MPPT and ANN based MPPT controller are investigated in various disturbing conditions. Here two case studies has been investigated like PV is fed to the LVDC without wind generation supply and the second case is with wind generation supply. In both case studies irradiance changes at different time intervals and the model is simulated to observe DC bus (PCC) parameters. By utilizing the HESS, the system can effectively manage both sudden and gradual power fluctuations, ensuring rapid regulation of the DC bus voltage, maintaining power balance, and reducing stress on the battery. The LVDC model is simulated in MATLAB-2023-a for some time with application a new drift free P&O MPPT and ANN based MPPT algorithms. The results are presented in the last section of this paper. The PCC voltage, current, are calculated. The proposed power management system (PPMS) is executed and its performance is judged.
