Enhancing Wireless Communications in Industry for Optimized on-Demand Transportation Systems: A Discrete Event Simulation Approach

Wireless communications play a critical role in enabling efficient and scalable industrial systems, particularly in emerging transportation paradigms such as autonomous and electric vehicle networks and mobility-on-demand services. This paper presents a discrete event formalism designed to streamline the simulation and control of on-demand transportation systems within an industrial context, integrating wireless communication frameworks to address dynamic system complexities. The proposed approach focuses on critical wireless events and interactions-such as vehicle location updates, charging statuses, and demand allocation-that are essential to maintaining low-latency, high-reliability communications. By modeling these interactions, we achieve reduced simulation complexity and enhanced performance insights for designing robust, wireless-enabled transportation solutions in real-world industrial applications. This formalism is validated through scenarios emphasizing event-driven system states, offering a foundation for future work in industrial wireless networks for smart transportation.
