Frequency Tuning Approach for Powering Selected Load in Multiple Receiver WPT System

Simultaneous resonant wireless power transfer (RWPT) to multiple loads is gaining huge accomplishment in recent years. In practical scenarios, power transfer to a specific load keeping other loads isolated is certainly crucial. To mitigate this issue, a manual frequency tuning approach at the receiver side of the multi-receiver RWPT system is suggested in this research. A two receiver RWPT system with receivers having different resonant characteristics has been modeled and analyzed to validate the proposed method. It is observed that, the specific receiver with resonant frequency same to the source driving frequency delivers maximum efficiency irrespective of the transmitting coil characteristics. By using this fact, a particular receiver load can be selected to deliver power maintaining maximum efficiency by tuning to its resonant frequency. For each load, the formula of efficiency in multiple receivers WPT has been derived by using this model. As observed from the results, receiver coil with higher frequency ensures higher power transfer efficiency. The numerical derivations are simulated and analyzed thoroughly to support this idea.
