Event-Driven Multi-Cluster Sensing and Edge Computing Co-Optimization for Wireless Smart Sensor Network Designs

This paper summarizes the research progress on the key functions of wireless smart sensors. First, this paper introduces the functional subsystems of wireless smart sensors, followed by focusing on the research on event-driven sensing, multi-cluster sensing, and edge computing. In event-driven sensing, this paper proposes solutions such as optimizing sensor sleep time and demand-based wireless smart sensors. In multi-cluster sensing, this paper presents the development of flexible sensing platforms and interface boards. In edge computing, this paper presents advances in hardware, software, and algorithm co-design. This paper outlines the main functions of wireless smart sensor networks. It first describes the importance and research progress of time synchronization, and then discusses the research progress on the functions of real-time data acquisition, decentralized data processing, cloud computing, and long-term reliability. Finally, the paper summarizes the progress that has been made and proposes future research directions.
