Influence Of Combined Electric And Thermal Field On The Convection Traits Around Hexagonal Cylinder
The electro-thermo hydrodynamic (ETHD) convection heat transfer effect on a hexagonal body, inside a square enclosure filled with a dielectric liquid is numerically investigated using the Lattice Boltzmann method (LBM). The flow motion is driven by coulomb forces due to electric charges from the hexagonal body and the buoyancy forces due to temperature gradients. Governing equations modelling the physical problem are solved using the Lattice Boltzmann equations. The enhancement of heat transfer in various electronic-cooling applications has been a subject of extensive research, with significant focus on heated sources of classical shapes, such as circles and ellipses. However, this study extends the analysis to shapes with corners which remain underexplored in the context of electro-thermo-hydrodynamics (ETHD). The study focuses on how the hexagonal body affected by the thermal performance and fluid dynamics, particularly the heat transfer rate. A parametric study was performed of the hexagonal body were analysed at the Rayleigh number Ra (10,000), electric Rayleigh numbers (0≤T≥600) and the Prandtl numbers (2 ≤Pr≥10). Furthermore, the electric charge injection level C, the mobility M is adjusted to a value of 10. Present study mainly explores the critical Electric Rayleigh number T at which steady-state patterns are disrupted, and assesses the impact of the Prandtl number Pr on the ETHD traits. The influence of the Prandtl number on the transition from steady to unsteady and chaotic electro-thermal convection is investigated using time-resolved Nusselt number analysis. Results show that lower Prandtl numbers lead to an earlier onset of convective instabilities and exhibit greater temporal fluctuations. The findings provide insights into the interplay between viscous diffusion and Coulomb-driven flow dynamics in electro-hydrodynamic systems.
