Effect of the Drilling Method on Pull-Out Resistance of Insulation Anchors for ETICS
The resistance of external thermal insulation combined systems (ETICS) to wind effects largely depends on the efficiency of their attachment to the building facades. This paper presents the results of an experimental study on the influence of the method of drilling the holes on the tensile load-bearing capacity of insulation anchors installed in masonry blocks with cavities. Two methods are used for drilling the holes in the masonry blocks – with rotary drilling and with hammer drilling of light construction mechanization. The obtained results are analyzed and dependencies between the way of drilling the holes, the characteristics of the masonry blocks and the change in the bearing capacity of the insulation anchors are deduced. Hammer drilling of the holes is found to significantly reduce the pullout capacity of the insulation anchors.
