RUSSIA’S PLACE IN THE INTERNATIONAL INNOVATION ARENA

The article examines the changing place of Russia in the Global Innovation Index for the period 2018–2024, as well as the factors contributing to these changes. The author analyzes the structure of the index, the composition of the sub-indexes and the reasons for the change in the places of countries in the general list. Weaknesses (institutions and infrastructure) are highlighted, which determine a not very high place in terms of conditions for innovation. It is confirmed that the changes in Russia’s place in the global innovation index are not only the result of a set of factors, both positive and negative in Russia, but also the same changes in other countries, as well as the structure of the index itself and the indicators included in it.
