Effect of probiotics on immune system organs of broilers

The aim of this research was to determine the effect of probiotic supplementation on the immune organs of broilers. The study was conducted on 200 day old chicks (DOCs) broilers that were kept until they were 21 days old. This study used a completely randomized design with four treatments and five replications. The treatments were no probiotics (A: control), probiotics with 9 liters of clean water, 1 liter of old coconut water, 0.25 kg of brown sugar (dissolved in 1 liter of water), 10 grams of tempeh yeast, and 100 ml of Yakult (B) , probiotics with 9 liters of clean water, 1 liter of old coconut water, 0.5 kg of brown sugar (dissolved in 1 liter of water), 20 grams of tempeh yeast, and 150 ml of Yakult (C), and probiotics with 9 liters of clean water, 1 liter of old coconut water, 1 kg of brown sugar (dissolved in 1 liter of water), 30 grams of tempeh yeast, and 200 ml of Yakult (D).The variables observed included broiler final weight, bursa of Fabricius percentage, spleen percentage, thymus percentage, and broiler mortality. The results of this study showed that the addition of probiotics had a significant effect (P<0.05) on the final weight, percentage of bursa of Fabricius, spleen and thymus of broilers.Supplementation of probiotics was found to enhance broiler immunity, reduce mortality and increase broiler productivity better than the control without probiotics.
