EVALUATION OF THE EFFICIENCY OF AUTOMATION OF METAL STRUCTURES PRODUCTION
The modern environment is characterized by ambiguity: on the one hand, scientific and technological progress and the emergence of advanced production technologies open up opportunities for improvement and reengineering of the production process; on the other, economic constraints and social inertia restrain investments in the modernization of domestic industry. The dilemma between mechanized production and automation, and the development of cyber-physical systems, which were stated by the author of the Industry 4.0 concept, German economist, Professor Klaus Schwab, requiring fundamental, systemic transformations of the production infrastructure and characteristics of the organization’s human capital, determines the need for detailed calculations and reasoned arguments in favor of making expensive innovative decisions. In this regard, the article is devoted to the economic assessment of the feasibility of automating the production processes of Bulat-Doors LLC, an enterprise of the metallurgical industry of the Chuvash Republic. The work is aimed at reflecting the actual advantages and disadvantages of implementing an automation project in an enterprise. The study analyzed production indicators before and after the introduction of automated systems, assessed the economic efficiency of investments, and investigated the impact of automation on product quality and labor productivity. The main results of the study demonstrate a reduction in equipment downtime as well as an increase in production profitability from an increase in labor productivity, a decrease in the scrap rate, a reduction in equipment downtime
