Correlation Between Optical Brightness and Polarization Degree in Different Blazar Types

The report presents the results of an analysis of the cross-correlation between optical light curves and the polarization degree of blazars of different types. The study investigated which objects exhibit simultaneous and consistent changes in their characteristics and whether this behavior is associated with the object types. A total of 23 objects were analyzed: 11 FSRQ, 11 BL Lac, and the radio galaxy 3C 84. Dense overlapping observational datasets in the R band, spanning 10 or more years, were used. The analysis involved assessing the significance of correlations using Monte Carlo simulations of light curves described by a Damped Random Walk model. Significant correlations were found in 5 FSRQ and 1 BL Lac, absent in 6 FSRQ and 10 BL Lac, and could not be reliably evaluated for 3C 84. According to the current results, the observed differences in correlated variability among blazar types are not statistically significant.
