IR Spectra of Nitrous Oxide for Reliable Detection in Interstellar Ice
In this work we obtained the IR spectra of solid nitrous oxide in its pure form and surrounded by the most common interstellar ice molecules: H2O, CO, CO2 and CH3OH at 10 K. The resulting binary mixtures have a ratio of 1 : 20, with nitrous oxide molecules being in a minority. This work identi.es the main absorption bands of nitrous oxide in various environments as belonging to the regions 2 250-2 229.6 cm−1 (4.44-4.48 μm) and 1 297.4-1 284.5 cm−1 (7.70-7.79 μm).
