Modeling of Μ Cep Envelope Based on Differential Speckle Polarimetry Data

This paper contains interpretation of observations of the dust envelope of a red supergiant μ. Cep by differential speckle polarimetry in the visible range at a wavelength of 625 nm. The presence of a compact shell with an inner radius of 15 a. u. and a mass of 9 · 10−6 MꙨ, as well as a side cloud at a distance of 100 a. u. and a mass of 5 · 10−7 MꙨ is shown. Dust composition: silicates with a magnesium content of 80 %, the distribution of dust particles by radii obeys the power law with degree -4.2, in the range from 5 to 60 nm.
