The Investigation of Gravitational Instability Mechanisms in NGC 628

This work aims to analyze the mechanisms of two-component gravitational instability using modern observational data of the galaxy NGC 628. We have obtained maps of instability parameters for azimuthal and radial perturbations in the galactic disk. A comparison between these parameters and Hα intensity maps shows that the mechanisms discussed in this paper can explain large-scale star formation in real galaxies.

Abstract

This work aims to analyze the mechanisms of two-component gravitational instability using modern observational data of the galaxy NGC 628. We have obtained maps of instability parameters for azimuthal and radial perturbations in the galactic disk. A comparison between these parameters and Hα intensity maps shows that the mechanisms discussed in this paper can explain large-scale star formation in real galaxies.
