SYNTHETIC ZEOLITES AND PROSPECTS OF THEIR APPLICATION AS ENTEROSORBENTS (MESSAGE 1)
Natural zeolites are a valuable source of micro- and macroelements when used as feed additives and effective enterosorbents. At the same time, zeolites, like other types of mineral and organic raw materials of natural origin, contain natural and anthropogenic ecotoxicants of chemical and radiation nature, which vary in composition and content levels and can be dangerous as a result of their accumulation in the body of animals and manufactured products. Depending on the type of mineral, the content of the useful component in zeolite tuffs can reach 80% or more. The rest is made up of impurities that have no practical value or are harmful in biological terms in the case of using zeolites as feed additives. With this view, synthetic zeolites are promising, which, due to their high ion exchange, sorption and catalytic properties, are finding ever wider application in various branches of industry. There is very little information in the available literature about their use in animal husbandry and veterinary medicine, in particular for detoxification when heavy metals enter the body. The article presents a review of the literature devoted to zeolites, a comparative assessment of their positive and negative properties and the prospects for using synthetic zeolites in animal husbandry as enterosorbents.
