The Role of Mechatronics in Advancing Home Economics and Hospitality: Implications for Technological and Economic Development
The study examined the role of mechatronics in advancing home economics and hospitality: implications for technological and economic development. Mechatronics, an interdisciplinary field merging mechanical, electrical, and computer engineering, has emerged as a powerful driving force for technological advancement and economic growth. The research highlighted the increasing importance and impact of mechatronics across various sectors, including robotics, home automation, hospitality systems, healthcare, and energy. The integration of emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and advanced robotics has led to enhanced efficiency, accuracy, and adaptability in mechatronics applications. Furthermore, effective mechatronics education and training require a multidisciplinary approach, innovative teaching methods, and strong partnerships between academia and industry to prepare professionals for the rapidly evolving field. As mechatronics continues to evolve, its potential to transform industries, including hospitality and home economics, and contribute to economic growth remains substantial, making it a critical area for investment and collaboration. The study revealed, among other findings, that mechatronics contributes to improved safety in automotive systems, industrial automation, and healthcare applications by enabling advanced control and monitoring capabilities. Mechatronics also leads to cost reductions in manufacturing, energy, and transportation systems through improved efficiency, reliability, and performance. It fosters innovation and enables new applications in areas such as robotics, automation, and renewable energy. Among the recommendations, the study suggests that governments should promote the integration of mechatronics into educational curricula at various levels, including high schools, technical colleges, and universities. Additionally, vocational training and certification programs should be established to upskill the workforce, ensuring that workers are proficient in mechatronic systems and technologies that are increasingly in demand in the job market.
