Building an Ethics Assurance Case for an Algorithmic Deprescribing Decision Support System
Deprescribing is a patient-centered intervention done under medical supervision. It involves reassessing medications to determine if any should be stopped due to lack of benefits, potential harm, irrelevance to current conditions, or misalignment with the patient’s goals of care. A system to inform deprescribing decisions was developed. Examples of withdrawal- linked challenges and mishaps are presented, along with an excerpt from the ethics assurance argument.
