Implementation and Experimental Verification of DTMB-A Single Frequency Network
In December 2019, the Digital Television Terrestrial Broadcasting (DTTB) Transmission Evolution System (DTMB-A) which was proposed by China became the ITU's second generation international standard for DTTB with the label of System C. DTMB-A system has made significant improvements of the first generation DTTB standard. While the number of Transport Stream (TS) packets contained in one superframe of DTMB-A is no longer an integer due to the sophisticated parameter combinations. Therefore, the existing DTMB Single Frequency Network (SFN) adapter and implementation methods cannot be directly applied to DTMB-A system. Therefore, this paper proposes an implementation method for DTMB-A SFN adapter and conducts verification in the laboratory. In the proposed DTMB-A SFN adapter, according to the specific working mode of DTMB-A, corresponding zero padding operations are performed at the end of the service data for each superframe of the DTMB-A system. Meanwhile, DTMB-A SFN synchronization system controls the implementation of DTMB-A superframe containing integers OFDM frames between adjacent Megaframe Initialization Packet (MIP) packets.
