Strategic DG Placement and Sizing for Alarm Mitigation in Distribution Grids Using Quadratic Programming-Enhanced Particle Swarm Optimization
As private energy consumption becomes increasingly dependent on electricity for transportation and heating, the strain on the distribution grid will increase, making it more prone to alarms. To mitigate this, strategically placed distributed generation (DG) can be placed. This paper considers the case of a radial in the Danish distribution system facing alarms. It applies Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) to determine this system's optimal location and sizing of DGs. To handle system-wide constraints, the PSO is enhanced with Quadratic Programming. The experimental results suggest that the modified PSO can improve system stability and converge faster than traditional PSO.
