On the application of biomedical tools for the clinical study data management
The PhD research program focuses on integrating biomedical data models to manage and enhance clinical data and protocols. The focus regards the definition of pipelines able to optimize clinical as well as pharmacological process optimization for acquiring and enriching complex medical datasets, including clinical, demographic, and environmental information. In particular, the pipeline definition has been tested on clinical study in two clinical cases: cardiological and nephrological studies. The defined pipeline has been based on a REDCap instance, able to facilitate the management of patient treatments and medical information. Moreover, the project aims to define an AI-based module able to analyse and manipulate clinical protocol data gathered from the pipeline. E.g., REDCap data, integrated with patient and physician annotations, should be used as input for an AI module able to identify interesting patterns as results of the clinical studies. The PhD research program involves multidisciplinary collaborations and clinical trial participation to enhance the management of the clinical processes.
