Wearable Sensor Fusion Device: Protecting Against the Next Flu Outbreak
This paper describes the design of a wearable gadget to encourage social distancing. The single device combines a state of the art ultrasonic transducer range-finder with a tiny passive infrared sensor, to allow human detection, distance measurement and social distancing. Three proximity alert modes are available: micro DC vibration motor, bi-colour diffused LED and piezo transducer buzzer, or a combination of these. This small and configurable, device can be useful for maintaining social distancing, preventing the spread of new flu variants. The number of alert events can be stored in the non-volatile flash memory, for device monitoring, through a developed software application, aiming to keep social distancing.
