FSDI: A Holistic Framework for Sustainability-Driven Innovation

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has introduced remarkable sophistication and intelligence to everyday life while transforming industries with smarter, more efficient operations. However, these advancements pose significant environmental challenges. AI transformer models, in particular, require immense energy for training, contributing to global CO2 emissions and environmental degradation. This underscores the urgent need for responsible and sustainable development practices. In this paper, we propose a comprehensive Framework for Sustainability-Driven Innovation (FSDI). This framework integrates three core concepts: Green Computing, Green AI, and eXplainable AI (XAI). The designed framework not only aims to minimize AI’s environmental impact but also aligns with specific UNSDGs, promoting sustainable innovation.
