Development of a 3D Interactive Digital Directory: A Digital Transformation Approach to Innovate Wayfinding Navigation at LPU-Cavite

Aiming to provide academic excellence and quality education to its stakeholders, Lyceum of the Philippines University - Cavite continues its drive towards international accreditations and global recognition. The rapid expansion of infrastructure, facilities, and administrative offices makes campus navigation challenging for newly enrolled students, newly hired employees, and visitors. This study presents a unique web-based digital directory that combines interactive 3D campus models and real-time wayfinding animation, offering significant benefits for efficient campus navigation. To attain the goal of the study, the researchers utilized and strictly followed the prototyping software development life cycle, aiming to develop highquality software aligned with the requirements and standards of the university's stakeholders. The functionality and performance of the system were comprehensively tested, and the loading speed of each feature, such as wayfinding animation, on-screen keyboard, safety protocols, 360-degree views, and informational content, was assessed. A stress test comprising 20 concurrent searches revealed no errors or delays, confirming that repeated and parallel searches do not degrade the system's performance. Each system feature revealed an average loading time of less than one second, affirming the system's efficiency and reliability. The system was evaluated using ISO 25010 software quality model criteria, yielding an overall descriptive rating of “strongly agree” with a mean average score of 3.7619, demonstrating the system's effectiveness and acceptability in innovating campus navigation. Continuous system content updates as the campus evolves should take place, and future improvements in refining wayfinding animation are highly recommended.
