The Role of Mobile Computing in Flipped Classrooms for English Language Learning and Assessment

Mobile communications has been adopted in education and has in particular influenced flipped classroom that demands students’ active participation by taking content delivery out of class. In terms of English language learning the flipped model enhances student participation in class and facility in this skill. However, the existing methods do not include advanced assessment instruments that can offer accurate feedback for such specific assignments as essays and lab reports in order to attain maximal efficacy. The main disadvantages with conventional assessment methods include; most pedagogical experts agree that manual grading or general automated models take a lot of time. This research introduces a new strategy integrating mobile computing and BERT in identifying and, moreover, teaching English and examinations. Mobile computing make instructional content and preferred learning interactive activities readily accessible anywhere at any time; BERT improves assessment through response accuracy, individualized feedback and contextual language understanding. The methodology involves using of a mobile based flipped classroom approach in which students learn content before the class in an online environment while the in class activity involve group assignments. Tools that use BERT provide an instant analysis of writing and speaking assignments. Another ementimplation assesses the framework based on its implementation of quantitative assessment and qualitative self- and peer-assessment by students and teachers. Studies show enhanced learning accomplishments, in quality of students’ language used, and in their assessment skills to be some of the areas that may benefit from application of the technique.
