The teaching of Turkish as a foreign language has become an important topic in recent years, with increasing interest and developments. Türkiye’s and Turkish culture’s growing international influence has contributed to Turkish gaining a respected place among world languages. These developments have increased the responsibilities of Turkish language teaching, necessitating significant steps to be taken. Institutions like the Yunus Emre Institute and TÖMER have developed effective teaching materials, making Turkish language teaching more efficient. Turkish is taught not only in language centers in Turkey but also in many universities around the world. Those learning Turkish in private language centers often do so because of their interest in the language, while students in university Turkish departments are trained to specialize in the language and conduct research. Students receiving Turkish language education play a key role in examining cultural interactions between their own countries and Turkey, building cultural bridges. This study will address the key aspects of teaching Turkish as a foreign language through the example of the Turkish Department at the Faculty of Letters at Ovidius University in Constanța. The strengths and weaknesses will be analyzed, and recommendations will be made by emphasizing the importance of the department.
