EXTERIOR FEATURES OF VARIOUS GEESE BREEDS

The paper highlights the results of studies on the assessment of the exterior features of the selected geese breeds. The study presents data on body measurements and their correlations with live weight, as well as body indices of the selected geese breeds. Geese of the following breeds were studied: Hungarian White, Chinese White, Toulouse, Lind, Kholmogory and hybrids obtained from crossing the Chinese White ganders and the Lind female geese. The results show that the Kholmogory breed has largest body indices whereas the Hungarian White breed has the smallest body indices. It should also be noted that the Kholmogory breed demonstrates the best meat qualities compared to other geese breeds.
