A ZnSe/Bi2Se3 heterostructure as a sodium-ion battery anode displaying fast reaction kinetics, high capacity, and good full-cell performance
Sodium-ion (Na-ion) batteries with a non-ideal reaction kinetic anode remain a key issue currently. Here, we present a heterostructured ZnSe/Bi2Se3 nanocluster coated with carbon displaying fast reaction kinetics. An <i>in situ</i> Raman spectrum evidences species change during charge-discharge, and an <i>in situ</i> X-ray diffraction pattern verifies a good reversibility. The ZnSe/Bi2Se3/NC anode exhibits a high specific capacity of 438 mA h g-1 after 500 cycles at 0.2 A g-1, and 386 mA h g-1 after 1200 cycles at 1.0 A g-1. High-performance cells cycling at -10 °C and 50 °C are achieved. These findings will lead to important applications for developing a broad set of energy-storage materials and battery systems.
