Advances in Mucilage Extraction Techniques and their Emerging Applications
This study provides a review of recent progress in mucilage extraction, highlighting its natural and sustainable qualities and diverse applications. It discusses various aspects of mucilage extraction techniques, such as the traditional method, microwave-assisted method, ultrasonication-assisted method, and enzyme-assisted method, and finally discusses the advanced applications of mucilage extracts. It explores the mucilage extractions, bringing together the research threads on different plants. The transformative potential of the mucilage extracts is also illustrated, particularly within the context of the food and beverage industry, pharmaceutical and nutraceutical applications, and cosmetics and personal care products. The integration of mucilage into these sectors addresses concerns of food, health, and environmental sustainability, offering a natural and biodegradable alternative to synthetic materials. The review concludes by highlighting the potential of mucilage extracts, outlining the possible recommendations for future studies.
