Simulation of a Reconfigurable Phased Antenna Array With Directional Beam Control
This work explores reconfigurable antenna arrays with controlled radiation patterns, widely used in modern wireless and radar systems. By dynamically adjusting the beam direction, such arrays improve signal transmission and reception efficiency. The study includes an overview of existing design approaches and their limitations, followed by CST-based modeling of a system of <tex>$2 \times 2$</tex> patch antenna arrays operating at 1.8 GHz. Radiation patterns were simulated for three phase control modes. A mathematical model was developed in MATLAB to describe beam steering through phase shift variation. The results confirm the feasibility of dynamic beam control and are valuable for designing adaptive antennas in telecommunication systems.
