Use of Artificial Intelligence in Academic Activities of Students in Higher Education

This study analyzes the use of artificial intelligence in the academic activities of students at the Technical University of Manabí. The aim is to identify perceptions, impact, and barriers related to these technological tools. Using a qualitative approach, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 17 students from different faculties, using the snowball technique for sampling method purposes. The data were analyzed using a thematic approach, which allows the identification of patterns and categories from the data. The results show that artificial intelligence improves academic productivity by facilitating tasks such as writing and problem solving, even though it faces obstacles such as lack of technical training and unequal access to technology. It is concluded that, even though students perceive artificial intelligence as an ally in their learning process, an institutional approach that fosters technical and ethical skills is essential. This includes educational policies that reduce the digital divide and promote the responsible use of these technologies as a complement to human and academic development.
