Poster: The Costs of Incentivizing New Entrants in Trustworthy 6G Decentralized Marketplaces
6G ecosystems provide the promise of marketplaces where multiple stakeholders can interact to buy and sell softwarized resources. As the use of such resources necessitates that buyers have access to the sellers' networks, e.g. on-premises, edge, or cloud, sellers will prefer trusted buyers. To ensure its vibrancy, it is imperative that new entrants are incentivized to join the marketplace, while existing stakeholders are also treated fairly to retain their trust. As reputation can serve as a proxy for trust, we explore the feasibility of a decentralized blockchainbased reputation engine, with a focus on the computation costs of different reputation initialization approaches. To this end, we have implemented such an engine via smart contracts in the Ethereum blockchain, using the associated Remix simulator to calculate gas (computation) costs, and have evaluated the tradeoffs among our initialization approaches. We further discuss the implications of our results on 6G decentralized marketplace governance policies.
