Some Approaches to Mobile 5G Communications Planning
The purpose of cellular network planning is to increase network capacity and data transfer rate for users, as well as efficient use of frequency resource for communication operators. Network capacity ultimately depends on efficient planning. When planning a cellular radio network, one of the main tasks is to determine the coverage area. With each new generation of mobile networks, the task of accurately calculating it becomes more complicated. Recently, approximate values are often used in calculation formulas. This paper is dedicated to the issues of taking into account the gain from new technologies, e.g. beamforming. The studies made it possible to determine the numerical gain from the use of beamforming in conditions of interference between cells. In particular, it is shown that with the specified modeling parameters, beamforming provides an advantage up to 12 dB compared to a three-sector 3GPP antenna.
