Accuracy of the Direction Finding Algorithm Based on the ML Estimation of the Azimuth

This paper studies the quality of the direction finding algorithm based on the incoherent multi-channel maximum likelihood estimation. It considers two approaches: the joint incoherent multi-channel maximum likelihood estimation and sequential incoherent multi-channel maximum likelihood estimation. The expressions of minimum dispersion of the maximum likelihood estimation of the azimuth and difference between delays of the signals received on adjacent antennas have been obtained. Simulation and experimental results have demonstrated agood coincidence with theoretical results

Abstract

This paper studies the quality of the direction finding algorithm based on the incoherent multi-channel maximum likelihood estimation. It considers two approaches: the joint incoherent multi-channel maximum likelihood estimation and sequential incoherent multi-channel maximum likelihood estimation. The expressions of minimum dispersion of the maximum likelihood estimation of the azimuth and difference between delays of the signals received on adjacent antennas have been obtained. Simulation and experimental results have demonstrated agood coincidence with theoretical results
