Grammatical Criticism by Muhammad al-Tahir al-Taflati in his book “Rayhanat al-Albab”: Commentary on “Tuhfat al-Tullab fi Maqasid al-I’rab”

This research studies the grammatical criticism in the book "Rayhana al-Albab with an explanation of Tuhfat al-Talib" by Muhammad al-Taflati (d. 1191 AH), in addition to identifying his scientific personality and his critical approach to dealing with grammatical opinions. The research relies on the analytical approach in dealing with the texts mentioned by Al-Tafalati, and focusing on his critical criteria based on (hearing, analogy, consensus) and analyzing his critical terms, without forgetting to give examples that illustrate his method of using the terms he relied on in his criticism, and explaining their formula. The research concluded that Al-Tafalati adopted an objective scientific approach, relying on transmitted and rational evidence, while demonstrating his broad encyclopedic culture. The research fills a research gap due to the lack of specialized studies in Taflati criticism, and highlights its impact on enriching Arabic grammar, especially in the twelfth century, relying on the most important grammatical books.
