Application of Multimodal Interaction in Urban Public Space Planning

Traditional urban planning methods rely on planners' subjective experience and static data, while multimodal interaction (MI) provides a more natural and efficient interaction by integrating visual, auditory, and tactile information. The successful application of this technology in games, education, medical care and other fields shows potential in urban planning, especially in improving spatial functionality, attractiveness, and public participation. This paper shows how MI can help planners collect and analyze data more comprehensively by analyzing the potential of functional enhancement, attractiveness enhancement and understanding of public needs and preferences, so as to make more scientific and reasonable planning. In addition, this paper also puts forward an evaluation method of urban public space vitality based on multimodal data. It verifies the effectiveness and feasibility of this technology through case studies. The results show that MI can significantly improve urban public space's vitality, comfort, and sustainability, and provide new ideas and methods for urban planning and public space design.
