Developing Digital Tools for Cross-Cultural Adaptability Assessment of International Students

This study focuses on developing digital tools for international students' cross-cultural adaptability assessment. With the deepening of global educational exchanges, challenges of cross-cultural adaptability faced by international students are increasingly prominent. To improve the efficiency and accuracy of evaluation, this study designed and developed an efficient digital evaluation tool. The tool is user-centered, and its practicability and convenience are ensured through in-depth practice. The tool includes four functional modules: personal information management, cross-cultural adaptability evaluation, result analysis and feedback, and suggestion and guidance, aiming at comprehensively evaluating the level of cross-cultural adaptability of international students and providing personalized guidance. In the development process, the front-end framework of React and the back-end technology of Node.js are adopted, combined with MongoDB database, to ensure the stability and expansibility of the system. The evaluation system integrates many dimensions, such as language communication, cultural understanding, social ability, and psychological adaptation. It combines data mining and machine learning algorithms to deeply analyze the evaluation data. The security of user data is ensured through encryption algorithms and security protocols. The application results show that the digital tool is effective in helping students improve their cross-cultural adaptability. Most students are satisfied or very satisfied with the tool's friendly interface, simple operation, and accuracy in evaluating results. The comparison before and after use shows that students' adaptability in language communication, cultural understanding and social skills has been significantly improved. In educational institutions and study abroad agencies, the tool also shows high efficiency and practicability and can provide students with personalized pre-study assessments, educational services and follow-up feedback. However, the current tools still present limitations in evaluating dimensional coverage and technical dependence. Future research will focus on expanding evaluation dimensions, optimizing user interface, reducing technical dependence, and increasing interaction and feedback mechanisms to enhance tools' comprehensiveness and user experience. This study provides a new digital solution for international students' cross-cultural adaptability evaluation, which is significant in promoting the healthy development of international education.
