Facilitating access to dermatological care in South Africa using a mobile telemedicine application
Although teledermatology is widely used as a strategy to improve the supply–demand inequities for dermatology services, there are limited data on its utilization in resource-scarce settings. We analysed the referral trends of an established mobile telemedicine application in South Africa and depicted its feasibility in improving access to care in this context. Benefits included teletriage and delivering dermatology upskilling to referring healthcare providers.
