SIGNATURE ANALYSIS OF OSCILLATION CURVES IN IGNITION SYSTEM DIAGNOSTICS
Signature analysis involves studying unique patterns (signatures) that form in the dynamic characteristics of the system. In the case of the ignition system, the key object of study is the secondary voltage oscillograms, which reflect not only the moment of spark gap breakdown, but also subsequent damped oscillations caused by the resonant properties of the circuit. These oscillations, often ignored in standard diagnostics, contain information about the capacitive and inductive parameters of the circuit, the quality of insulation, and even the composition of the fuel-air mixture.
