The lexical devices of the expressions of concept of “Patriotism” in modern English Summary The investigation of lexical devices used to express the concept of 'patriotism' is interesting and relevant in modern English. We should emphasize that a concept is a complex notion in itself. Once formulated, it is preserved in our minds. Then, it is represented by means of linguistic and non-linguistic devices. In summary, it should be noted that a concept can be viewed as a form of reflection. Discourse is the primary means by which the concept is realized. At this point, we are interested in text, context which is able to make representations. We should note that the lexical devices have a great role in the representations of the concept of “patriotism”. The epithets, metaphors, metonymy, slogans, synonyms, antonyms etc. have a powerful role in attracting attention and creating emotional influence.
