Social Functions of Higher Education in the Context of a New Educational Paradigm Summary The article analyzes the social functions and development trends of education in the context of the transition to a new educational paradigm. The essence of the future current and radical directions of modernization of educational activities and priority steps in their implementation are determined. Also, distance education, which meets the requirements of modern life, along with fulfilling the actual educational functions, shows the development of independent search activities of students and the transition from the reproductive method of education to the creative development of students' knowledge.
