The advantage of using Competency Based Language Teaching in English at high schools Summary This article deals with Competency Based Language Teaching that is one of the most important approach in Foreign Language Teaching. The named competency types focus on achievement of knowledge, skills and abilities. Shortly, this approach is considered to be an application of principles of Competency Based Education. At that time teachers provide positive feedback for improving learners language skills and knowledge.This approach is based upon the learners needs and interests. It is considered that the teachers should be aware of their interests and needs. This approach claims development of the defined skills and abilities. They are considered important points in real life. So, the great advantage of this approach is the clarity. In Competency Based Language Teaching students should perform and demonstrate the language use for completing real world tasks. Key words: competence, communication, language, context, knowledge
