<scp>CORR</scp> ‐ <scp>DATA</scp> : A database of corrosion parameters measured on existing reinforced concrete structures for enhanced structural assessment
Abstract The corrosion of reinforcing bars embedded in concrete strongly compromises structural performance over time. However, its detection and quantification remain challenging due to limited comprehensive knowledge of natural corrosion patterns in existing structures. This paper introduces CORR‐DATA, a database established to collect, categorize, and analyze consistent and comparable data from reinforcing bars extracted from naturally corroded structures. The database is intended to support the prediction of corrosion‐induced deterioration in structures exposed to similar environmental conditions and to enable a more accurate estimation of their residual properties. The paper outlines the included parameters and their associated collection methodologies, and discusses critical aspects of corrosion data evaluation, such as oxide removal procedures, elongation capacity measurements, chloride content interpretation, and the definition of the maximum‐to‐average attack ratio. In the latter aspect, the corrosion pattern on a few samples of naturally corroded bars subjected to chloride‐induced corrosion is analyzed in detail, highlighting key challenges in defining and identifying the minimum residual cross‐section.
