The key problematic issues that negatively affect the deadlines and quality of works are highlighted. A brief description of the models of financing and management of projects for the development of weapons and military equipment is given, which allow overcoming the tendency of the emergence (increase) of receivables from the customer, violation of established deadlines, etc. A promising option for organizing the procedure for performing research and development work on the development of weapons and military equipment is presented, in particular, through an improved mechanism of preferential credit financing of works, which significantly reduces the risk of the emergence and increase of receivables and violation of the deadlines for the performance of works.
