GREEN LOGISTICS AND ECONOMIC EFFICIENCY IN NIGERIA’S ROAD TRANSPORT AND LOGISTICS SECTOR.
Emissions from logistics and transport-related activities are challenging worldwide due to their environmental impact on the populace and economic efficiency. This study examined the effects of green logistics on the economic efficiency of Nigeria’s road transport and logistics sector. A survey research design was adopted. The population of the study is infinite because there was no accurate records of all the customers of road transport and logistics users in Nigeria. Cochran’s (1977) formula for infinite population was employed to determine the sample size which was four hundred (400). The respondents were chosen with simple random sampling technique. Questionnaire was used to collect data from respondents. Simple percentage and frequency distribution table was used to analyze the data collected. The hypothesis was tested with regression analysis using SPSS version 25. Findings indicated that there is no significant relationship between route optimization and economic efficiency in Nigeria's road transport and logistics sector. It was also found that there is no significant relationship between the internet of things and economic efficiency in Nigeria road and logistics sector. It was recommended that corporate organizations and the government should embrace proper route optimization while encouraging the use of the internet of things in the Nigeria's road transport and logistics sector.
