Legal Liability for Collision of Unmanned Ships
With the development of unmanned technology, unmanned ships are destined to occupy an important position in shipping. Since ancient times, shipping safety has been the most critical and most eye-catching part of the navigation industry. Therefore, the division of legal liability for ship collision has always been the most basic but key link in marine legislation. At present, the legal regulation on the collision of unmanned ships is in a vacuum. In order to adapt to the development of society, this paper starts with the nature and legal status of unmanned ships, dis-cusses the lack of legal status of unmanned ships, and the difficulty of rules in the event of a ship collision. Through the judicial interpretation of the current law of the sea and the supplement of regulations, the legal status of unmanned ships is clearly defined, and the collision liability mechanism of unmanned ships is clearly defined, in order to provide some new ideas for the legal improvement of unmanned ships.
