Bimetallic porphyrin based metal organic frameworks as high-performance anode for lithium-ion batteries

Metal organic frameworks are receiving increasing attention as promising electrode materials for rechargeable batteries due to their designable periodic patterns and large specific surface area. However, some traditional MOFs are limited by poor reaction kinetics and chemical stability and are no longer suitable for high-performance lithium-ion batteries. Here, we design and synthesize a dicarboxylate porphyrin ligand (DBP), and prepare a bimetallic MOF(DBP(Mn)-Ni) by solvothermal method. Its rich active sites and abundant pore structure are conducive to the storage and transportation of Li + . Compared to DBP-Ni, DBP(Mn)-Ni exhibits excellent reversible capacity (1160 mAh g −1 at 100 mA g −1 ), rate performance, and long-term cycling performance (maintaining a capacity of 580 mAh g −1 after 600 cycles) when used as the anode material for lithium-ion batteries. • A novel dicarboxylate ligands was synthesized and used to prepare MOFs. • The advantages of the ligand were analyzed by using DFT method. • The designed negative material exhibits good electrochemical performance.
