REVIEW OF MONOGRAPH BY S. A. GRIGORIEV “THE ORIGIN AND MIGRATIONS OF THE INDO- ARYANS”. CHELYABINSK: CHELYABINSK STATE UNIVERSITY PUBL., 2024. 452 P

S. A. Grigoriev’s monograph “The Origin and Migrations of the Indo-A ryans”, published in 2024, examines the problem of the origin of several language families and suggests a migration scheme for groups of their speakers in the Bronze Age of Eurasia based on a comparison of modern data from paleolinguistics, genetics, and archaeology. The author suggests her own original concept of the genesis of Indo-I ranian paleopopulations, which diff ers from the generally accepted steppe hypothesis and localizes the ancestral homeland of the Indo- Aryans in North- Western Iran. The review considers a number of general theoretical and methodological comments and particular ones concerning the author’s use of archaeological materials from the Southern Trans- Urals to support the assumptions made. It is possible to note the unconditional methodological and theoretical value of the information block devoted to a detailed analysis of controversial issues that arise when trying to reconstruct the origin of linguistic groups and ethnic groups, combining data from linguistics, archaeology, and genetics. Nevertheless, the author herself has not avoided the same assumptions criticized by her when constructing her own concept.

Abstract
