Pedagogías para la paz: aproximaciones teóricas e investigativas en el contexto colombiano
This reflective text analyzes peace pedagogies in the Colombian context, emphasizing their importance in building a culture of peace, reconciliation, and social justice. The aim of this work is to understand the role of education in transforming violence and inequality dynamics through the examination of four thematic axes: the historical and conceptual contextualization of peace pedagogy, the relationship between critical pedagogy and historical memory, educational innovation and the school’s role in peacebuilding, and the limitations, potentialities, and challenges of these pedagogies in Colombia. The analysis concludes that peace education in Colombia has made significant progress due to policies such as the Chair for Peace and the increasing inclusion of historical memory in the school curriculum. Critical pedagogy and memory-based practices have proven to be key tools for developing critical thinking and training citizens committed to social change. However, implementing these strategies faces significant challenges, such as unequal access to educational resources, lack of teacher training, and resistance to revisiting the country’s conflictive past. Finally, the text proposes recommendations to strengthen peace education, emphasizing the need for comprehensive teacher training, the promotion of innovative pedagogical practices, and active community participation in the educational process. Education, seen as a space for transformation and hope, is presented here as an essential tool for building a peaceful Colombia.
